P3 Rm5 Mrs salmond

We have had an incredibly busy time of it Primary 3 room 5 so far! From volcanoes to phonics, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to writing and oracy, we have crammed a lot in to 8 weeks. We are excited to take part in lots more learning experiences next term, with even a trip to go on as well!

This term, we have been focussing on our rights and how they are important to each of us. We have selected the rights we feel are important for our class and have already created our class charter to help support us to remember these. We regularly discuss our rights during lessons and ensure that we are always respectful of others.

In class we have many classroom rewards. We can earn House Points for working together as a team and showing that we are Ready, Respectful and Safe. We also work within our table groups to earn marbles (something we love to receive!) and at the end of each week we count up the marbles to see who has won Table of the Week. We also have the opportunity to be recognised for individual achievement on our Recognition Board, in which we write about an aspect of our learning that we are proud of ourselves for. Mrs Salmond has the tricky job each week of deciding one person who will win a trophy that they get to keep in honour of their achievements for that week.

In Health and Wellbeing our focus is on what our ambitions are for the year as well as teambuilding skills in PE.  We are enjoying getting to work with Mr Wright and Mrs Jeffrey for PE lessons and we know why it is so important to stay fit and healthy.

In Maths we have been revising our understanding of place value and most recently we have been practising using a variety of addition and subtraction strategies. These have helped us get faster at answering different calculations.

In Literacy we are working hard on our Oracy skills to help us talk about our learning and develop our knowledge from discussion. We use the listening ladder and discussion guidelines to support us. We are also developing or writing skills by using description bubbles. Next term, we will start to use talk tokens to support taking turns when sharing our opinions.
