Welcome to P3 Room 5!

This term, our Primary 3 learners will be embarking on an exciting learning journey through our topic, "Weather Detectives". Through a range of engaging investigations and hands-on experiences, pupils will explore weather, climate, plants, energy, materials, and even learn about the Sun and Moon. We will be encouraging curiosity and creativity as children carry out experiments, make observations, ask questions and discover how the world around them works.

Within our Numeracy, we will be building confidence with numbers to 1000, exploring counting patterns and developing our understanding of times tables through games, practical activities and problem-solving challenges. We will encourage children to explain their thinking and use a range of strategies to tackle mathematical problems with confidence.

In Literacy, we will be developing reading, phonics, listening and writing skills through a variety of engaging texts and learning experiences. Children will have opportunities to share their ideas, express their opinions, build their vocabulary and develop confidence in communicating with others.

Health and Wellbeing is an important part of our learning this term. As we learn about Children's Rights and create our class charter, we will also be developing our understanding of emotions and relationships. Children will learn about different feelings, how to recognise and talk about their own emotions, and how others may express their feelings in different ways. Through stories, discussions, play and collaborative activities, we will encourage empathy, kindness and respect while helping children build positive friendships and develop strategies for managing their emotions.

We are delighted to continue developing our learning through play opportunities, allowing children to explore, create, collaborate and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Learning through play helps children develop independence, creativity, communication skills and confidence while making learning enjoyable and engaging.

We also celebrate positive attitudes and achievements through our Star in the Jar reward system. Children can earn stars for our class reward jar by demonstrating excellent learning behaviours, teamwork, kindness, resilience and respect. When the jar is full, the whole class will work together to choose a special reward to enjoy together. This encourages everyone to work together towards a shared goal and celebrate their success as a team.
