Lighthouse

Welcome to Lighthouse with Mr Ralston, Mrs Watt, Mrs Ramson an Mrs Brown.

We had a great settled Term 1 in Lighthouse, making new friends and getting used to our new classroom.  We enjoyed learning about Transport and enjoyed counting the vehicles passing the school.  One of our favourite activities is Science and we worked hard to design boats to hold marbles without sinking!  Another favourite activity is Food Skills, we have made a variety of foods, a popular choice being potato scones. 

In Term 2 we are going to be learning about money in maths.  We have already set up our ‘LightHouse Toy Shop’.  We love to roleplay and use the money to buy items from the shop keeper. We will be learning about Festivals and Celebrations as our Context for learning this term.  This a great term for this as there are so many festivals happening across the world.

We have been learning about our rights and how important these are to us. We have created our class charter and have chosen to focus on the following articles in our class:  

-         Article 12 – we have the right to have an opinion, 

-         Article 28 – we have the right to learn, 

-         Article 31 – we have the right to play.
