Life at Tulloch Primary School

P5 Rm9

Welcome to P5 with Miss MacKinnon.

In P5 we are all superstars and enjoy learning new things. We have our ‘P5 Spotlight Wall’ to show off our successes and achievements in both our learning and being ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe’ around the school. In the class we can earn Positive Postcards, Table Points, Star of the Week and House Points.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays we have PE and on Friday afternoons we have Mrs Baptie. Mrs Sime also supports us in class every day

We started the term reminding ourselves of the Rights of the Child, we discussed the values we aim to have in class and found relevant Articles to support these values. These are clearly identified on our Underwater-themed’ class charter.

We will be revising our understanding of place value in numbers up to 100,000  and developing our addition, subtraction, division and multiplication skills.  We will, towards the end of term, apply this knowledge to learn about multiples and factors, and square numbers.

Every Thursday we will complete a Big Write task, this term focusing on personal and persuasive writing genres. This will be a week long effort as we have our 'Big Write Blether' on a Monday and develop our VCOP skills throughout the week.

Please ask your child each week about their Big Write as talking about it is a great way to develop our writing ideas.

We have a busy term ahead of us but we are raring to go as we apply our Growth Mindsets and resilience strategies!
